Handed a two-sided coin of tribute adorned of two, identical, faces and asked to “exercise their franchise,” Americans who hunt, wonder: Do sly foxes commit suicide at the “death?”

Imperator Gaius Julius Caesar Octavianus Divi Filius Augustus, founder of Imperial Rome, did not know Infant-Babe-Child-Man, Jesus, Emperor of the Entire World, was in his midst, in a remote region of his Empire, in desperate circumstance.

Imperator Gaius Julius Caesar Octavianus Divi Filius Augustus, founder of the Empire at Rome, invincibly ignorant of the most humble birth, squalid and piteous life and cruel and barbarous death of The Emperor of the World Itself, Babe-Child-Man-God, Jesus Christ, in a remote backwater of his realm, looked out then upon his glistening, golden creation, supped of pasta al dente in good proportion and likewise of fish and of fowl and of wine of yet far greater volume, and was contented and happy as a little baby clam.

America, the last, transcendent, Empire today in this sad, nearly Godless world,  now left standing, was once yet, very recently, golden and glistening herself–more golden and more glistening than any of her predecessors, she now lies spent and in ruin in this note to you from the capital of that last Empire, Washington.

It is a sad truth that Empires are destroyed, not from without their walls, but are, rather, assisted suicides within.  The American Empire at Washington is today suffering the final convulsions of her own assisted suicide. Her brilliance burns by us in the on-rush to an election, if, in fact, that is what this horror of fiction fan-dance is, of one, last, paper-mache Emperor, one last Tin God Pretender, to one, last, Imperial position. This vapid exercise leaves subjects of the American Empire saddened, exhausted and despairing as they watch the seat of Empire, Washington, engage in a desperate, mad-cap dash to final suicide.

As politics in these last days of American Empire attempts to excite the subjects that the election is so desperately important to each subject, the feverish hyperbole of the political operatives becomes, more directly, and inversely, proportional to the manifest unimportance of the election and of the  Pretenders Emperor at hand.   In this, stupefyingly, dull election between two hapless Pretenders to be last Emperor, the subjects are whipped into high lather by the gentlemen of estate fourth, screeching hand-maidens to the Pretenders Emperor.  The subjects are in high lather to be sure–but–not at the prospect of selecting a last Emperor but rather at the prospect of all paper-mache Pretenders Emperor and their handmaidens in estate fourth finding a long and wide bridge and hanging themselves under it.

Recall, dear reader, that the Soviet Empire, a vast and terrible expanse of conquered, terrorized territories and peoples, an Empire perpetually at war, as is our own, simply threw up its hands and left the playing field.  Quit.  Laid down.  Died.  Euthanized itself.  Americans, of long habit, used to marching off to kill Communists for God and Emperors Pretender, were initially at a loss at this suicide of their principle foe.  What to do?  How to feed the war machine?  The American war machine, ever rapacious, looked around with its hard and cold and eagle eye, and beheld fresh opportunity.  Fresh meat for the machine.  They called it radical Muhammadans–defined very loosely so as to afford the machine every opportunity to fight the new foe anywhere and everywhere the machine chooses to combat them.

Most of my life, fighting Communists was the mantra of the Emperors Pretender.  Now it is lunatic Muhammadans, not more clearly described.  American Empire policy as to war has reached a point which can only be described as clinical lunacy.  We have been now in Afghanistan 12 years and there is no remotely coherent reason for our being there, or even a  stated purpose.  When in man’s history, has there been a war, anywhere, for which there was no, even obliquely stated, reason for fighting?  Soldiers bleed in the desert, $6 trillion has thus far been spent from the Imperial American Treasury and the clock ticks, no end is in sight.  Daily we hear rumours of freshly discovered new meat for the machine in new places–Syria, Iran and maybe Egypt, Libya et sequentia–so many places for the war machine to dine.  Limitless opportunity!!!

No end will come, that is, until “the death.”  Imperial America will stop war when the Empire itself commits suicide, following the earlier lead of the Soviet Empire.  This is the year of, as one says, in fox-hunting, “the death.”  We, Imperial subjects of the First American Empire, have nothing to look forward to in November’s elections but we can watch and “be in at the death” of Imperial America and her war machine which will shortly follow those elections, via Imperial suicide. It will be curious to see if the fox will commit suicide gladly at “the death,” as he apparently did at Moscow 20 years ago.  I have never seen a fox, called by fox hunters Master Charlie, who, “run down to the death”, committed suicide to deny the hounds, but I have to consider the, now likelihood, that Imperial America will follow the lead of the suicidal Russian fox who denied the hounds and killed himself at “the death.” We will all soon know the answer.  Foxes are said to be “sly old things,” and perhaps they often do, as we said in the Old South, take “the gentleman’s way out.”

The American subjects are presented this November with, for their consideration and choice, or so we’re told, a two-headed coin similar in its brazen hypocrisy and treachery to that handed to the Man God Jesus Christ to try to trick him. The high priests and Pharisees asked Jesus–shall we pay the tribute to the Emperor Augustus–himself living far removed from this simian treachery, conducted by his subjects, far from him as well. The intended trick was to hand Jesus a two-sided coin, with the same face adorning, to force God Jesus to choose between His loyalty to Rome or instead to His Jewish fellow subjects. Had He picked first to sanction tribute, he would have been killed as an insurrectionist against His own Jewish homeland.  Had He chosen to reject such tribute, He would have been killed by the Romans as a insurrectionist against the Empire.  Jesus deftly ducked the issue by asking for the coin of tribute and, on examining it, uttered one now famous comment: Whose face adorns the coin of tribute?  On hearing “The Caesar Augustus” adorned it, Jesus replied: give the coin to The Caesar Augustus  whose likeness adorns the coin and give other things to God that are God’s property.

Compellingly, the subjects of the fast dying American Empire, have a choice far worse than that of Jesus. American Imperial subjects are to be handed a coin with two identical faces adorning, front and back, and asked to make our momentous choice for last Emperor in the Year of Our Lord, 2012.  The American people have been handed this coin, to my own best observation of 60 years at Washington, in every election to choose next Emperor and they are always dissatisfied with the outcome.  How could they be otherwise?

I am designing a new network broadcast radio show that anticipates a new moderate populism.  The program will usher in Direct Democracy.  Populism in America is as old as Jefferson.  Populism always fails because populists do not understand Washington.  Lucius Annaeus Seneca, the Stoic Roman Philosopher, wrote at Rome that no man can dismantle Rome unless he is a man of that city and men of Rome are pampered and well-fed and they have no interest in dismantling her.  Washington is boring, but if you want something out of this place, you will never get it unless you know this city or listen to somebody who does.  I do.

Populism has manifested itself in our history from Jefferson to Jackson on to William Jennings Bryan, Father Charles Edward Coughlin, Huey Pierce Long, “The Kingfish”, George Corley Wallace, the Tea Party, Occupy Wall Street and many other groups.  None were perfect men or groups, but all had very compelling ideas for us to consider when defining the new Empire of the Good.

Alabama Governor George Corley Wallace was famous for being the only politician  The President Richard Milhous Nixon, ever really feared.  Nixon, in his cunning, saw the glint of populism in the eyes of Wallace.  A glint of the people about whom Mr. Jefferson wrote “where the people fear the government, there is tyranny.  Where the government fears the people, there is liberty.”

The Americans are a moderate and sensible and populist lot.  They are very tired and depressed about continually being forced into voting for one guy because they hate him marginally less than the other. Now, in the dusk of Empire, 2012, they are going to do that again.  But they are not happy.  They can and will be happy if they have access to my moderate populist radio show with nationwide satellite reach to all corners of the land, internet, television and other social media:

YOU–HAVE–POWER

A RADIO SHOW FOR THE MODERATE POPULIST MAJORITY

WITH

JOHN DANIEL BEGG

AMERICAN TOWN CRIER

We start with these axioms:

90 percent plus of Americans are completely disaffected with the present two-party Empire.  Those who are on the political fringes already have their radio shows—this radio show broadcast answers a crying need for a mass market radio show for the great, populist middle ground.

The American people need to be told what to do to get what they want.  They want to understand how they can, collectively, become the Second American Empire of the Good.   I will tell them how Washington works, show them the levers and gears and work with them, collectively, to create a New Empire of the Good.

The American people are correct to say that “all politicians are for sale.”  I will show them that is good news—not bad.

The moderate American people need to be told they have the real currency the politicians want—90 percent plus of the vote.

In the end, despite all the high talk about the corruption of money in American politics, politics is about votes—politicians want votes—not money.

Understanding this, we understand that our votes are a currency to pay the politicians to do what we want.

It is beyond dispute that 90 percent plus of the American people have in their purses more currency in the form of their votes than any businessman can ever find to pay the politicians.

The American people need to learn how Washington can easily be made to work for their benefit

To understand Washington, the people must have an inside man.  I am he.

What I will provide:

I will tell the people how to best discern what they want and how to get it.  I will show them that in their purses and pockets they have the an insuperable amount of the real currency needed to get politicians to do what the people want–votes.

I will show how to understand and use PRESSURE to get what you want

The American people need a dedicated watch dog to ensure that the politicians do as agreed in exchange for their votes.  I am the watchdog.

The Americans need compelling explanations of the issues the nation faces and the solutions to those issues.  I provide both.

The American people need to publicly discuss among themselves, through me, how they want the pressing issues of the day handled.

After a comity of opinion on issues discussed and debated on the show is reached, I will deliver the message to Washington as to what the people want.

This show can be quickly turned into a mass American sounding board for debating and resolving ideas and major issues of the day.  There are many pollsters of various types in America, but they are passive question and answer guys.  The difference with me is that I will discuss issues, suggest solutions, take the pulse of the nation, deliver the message to Washington and then monitor Washington’s behavior and report to the people about the results.  When it becomes apparent to Washington that this show is the pulse point of the nation, the great populist majority will take charge of the levers of power.  My role will be as guide, counsel, proposer of solutions, conductor of debates and messenger between the people and the city.

Many Americans think that to get real change we have to burn Washington down, or get a third-party or completely change the system. This is simply not necessary.  Politicians are morally net neutral.   They are dance hall girls who will leave the dance and go home with any boy who has the right currency.  Right now, the only currency on offer is liquid commercial funds from businessmen.  People need to know that they have the real currency the politicians want directly and, when they flash it, the girl will leave the dance with them, every time.

It really is rather simple.  Politicians will follow the dictates of their masters.  Right now, commercial men own the politicians.  It doesn’t have to be that way.  Commercial men provide only money—which is only indirectly what politicians want.  Americans following my lead will simply learn how to take ownership of their government using the immense power they already have—their collective votes as 90%+ of the nation.  I will act as the American town crier and provide a space to get issues resolved in favor of the great populist middle ground.

I recognize that most people simply haven’t the time or the interest to spend much thought on, or talk about, politics.  Over and over this election season I hear people shouting—“I already know who I am voting for—why don’t these people shut up and leave me alone?” OK.  Fine, I will act as the national town crier who sets the tone of the debate on issues, takes the pulse of the nation, reports the findings to Washington and reports back to the people on results.  Modern technology makes possible for the first time in the history of man, true, direct democracy and ushers in the new Empire of the Good.

The Americans will not be required to do all that much on a daily basis—I will act for them.

Old Empires die hard.  Empires fight to survive.  Men who benefit from proximity to and profit from the largesse handed out by the Old Emperors will be most unhappy that they will now lack all power.  Yet, die they will, by their own hand.

And, yet, our New Empire of Good must make allowances for the changes in the world that, themselves occasion, our capacity to become the Good New Empire.  Prior to the capability to have instantaneous capacity to respond and react unilaterally, all manner of information and knowledge was kept behind gated doors to serve the desires and vanities of the very few who had power–now, everybody has power–it’s a brave new world that has both good and bad components to it.  Consider for instance the recent troubles in the Levant and North Africa.

In those sad, beautiful, but terribly troubled, lands, even the poorest of the poor now have power unilateral.  Even the poorest of the poor have the capacity to communicate and observe and monitor international reaction to their actions, some of which are quite terrible.  We must be aware that the great equalization that accompanies such capacity can indeed blow up the world.  It also means that the gated corridors of power and knowledge are now open to all, both men good and bad.

Putting, as best we can, domestic rhetoric aside here, the sad truth is that there is really nothing any of us can do about conditions in the Levant, as men there, particularly the very young and impressionable, play by their own, fast changing, rules and do not give us forewarning what those rules are today or will become tomorrow.

I think trying to establish direct linkages and cause and effect relationships in that part of the world is very dicey business.  I suppose people have to pick somebody to blame.  I am not sure  any of us here reading, are really any better or worse informed than anybody else respecting developments in Levant, Middle East, North Africa and West Asia.

In earlier days, and, until recently, of the First American Empire, the Secretary of State could call to his senior man on a particular region for all relevant information on particular nations there.  For example, the Secretary could inquire of his men of Syria, of Egypt, of Libya and the Secretary would have good assurance that he was comprehensively and properly briefed on the past and current day situations in those nations.  Not any more.  Not at least  in Levant, Middle East, North Africa and West Asia and, shortly, every other nation.  It is disquieting to a man who is used to getting reliable information in his own expert nations area to admit to himself, no mind others, that we have entered a new world in which in many cases “I just don’t know, ” is the only truthful response to inquiries.  This is disappointing and very frightening.  It is also the modern world and it will simply become more complex as communications at the touch of a button will be the daily prerogative of even desperately poor men.

I think the collective wisdom and knowledge we’ve put together so meticulously over our time likely cannot anticipate actions in that sphere to any degree of real usefulness or reliability anymore.

Worse yet, the ubiquity of very dangerous modern weaponry, readily available, taken together with the condition that we find ourselves, for indisputably the first time in history, in a world on which literally everyone is politically engaged, adds to the discomfort we all feel.

We are as doctors, forced to tell patients we simply do not know what to do to save them from a fate worse than–a contrition embarrassing to doctors but far more troublesome to the expectant patients of the world who hopefully look to us to guide into deep, labyrinthine jungles, unmapped and uncharted.

As the Old Empire dissolves before us in this last gasp of suicide, disguised as a political campaign carnival, at the current city of Washington 2012, Americans need to hold tight to the notion and the lamp in the darkness they alone hold, and with faith in God and our collective determination that, after the present system collapses, the vast populist majority stands ready to rebuild the city.  To reclaim the glistening golden city of our founders.  To bury the past and start afresh.

The Alabama Governor George Corley Wallace was very fond of saying that “there ain’t a dime’s worth of difference between the Democrats and the Republicans.”  Governor Wallace held up the front of the dime itself while saying this but never thought somehow to turn it over.  Had he done so, he could have gone well past his initial, poignant observation, when he discovered his dime  had the same face on both sides.

Jesus Christ was handed his Roman tribute coin of Emperor Augustus as a trick to catch Him into one form of sedition or the other.  In November, you will be handed a far more troubling coin to make your choice of America’s last Pretender Emperor.  Choose as you will, but use this suggested basis for your choice: a flip of the coin, because no matter the side that comes up–there is no difference respecting the proper resolution of things that  actually matter most to us.  There is not a dime’s worth of difference between them.  The more apparent this becomes, the more hysterical the aspirant Emperors and their minions at Washington and the Emperors Pretender in waiting and their handmaidens in estate forth become, as the suicide of Empire they have collectively together created comes to full end-game.

When it does come to full end–game, I will be here to help the 90%+ people of America, moderate populists all, to put a new Empire back together in the image and likeness of God and good men.  The vast majority of Americans are good people, moral people, with trust in God.  Our  current Empire was long ago seized by corrupt tyrants who tyrannize the people.  Recall Mr. Jefferson, the first modest populist who envisioned as Empire of good men who are honest and decent to one another.

It is not necessary to burn down this city, Washington.  She is in the final throes of killing herself.  There are those who say that this November will be the most important election since 1800, when Mr. Jefferson defeated Mr. Adams and his puppeteer, Mr. Hamilton.  Those who say this are wrong.  The election of 1800 was the single most important political calamity  in our entire history.  Those much smitten with the 2012 election are right to say it is fairly important in another way they do not quite understand or mean to suggest just yet.  Even in 1800, Jefferson was at full cry that Mr. Hamilton and his friends of finance at New York–our very first capital city–had already turned “our infant country into a gaming table on which the citizens are but dice and cards pushed around at will.”  Jefferson did not want the Bad Empire he saw in our infancy.  He wanted a Good Empire-of good citizens–who are not the serfs of self-appointed elites.  November 2012 is fairly important in that it will signal the sad end of the glorious, golden  First American Empire of liberty.  But there is nothing that the election of 2012 can do to forestall that sad end.  This election will only be remembered in history as the death scene from our fox hunt scripted earlier.  We will have lived at the time of and will have been in “at the death,” that is all.  For the  die is already cast.   It is “Acta est fabula,” as our friend from the outset here, The  Caesar Augustus, said at his own death, in his last words–the drama has been acted–already.

Jefferson understood better than any of the other founders of our Republic that most men in the world make the singularly most important decision of their lives when they are likely most inattentive.  That decision, the choice of a father, in most of the world dictates forever a man’s station in life.  Choose well and you are a Prince. Choose poorly and you are ever a pauper.

Mr. Jefferson had been 10 years as envoy at Paris and had travelled, out of burning intellectual curiosity, all about West Europe.  Jefferson saw the wretched poverty and despair of the people without any hope in lands with rigid Imperial class structures that were perpetually at war as the current American Empire, now is.  He hated it.  When he found Mr Hamilton conniving to, quite literally, create a hereditary, codified, upper class in our infant nation, Jefferson’s reaction was volcanic anger.  Forsaking retirement to his beloved, rarely seen, home, Monticello, he went forth to battle Mr Adams and his puppeteer, Mr Hamilton.  Had Jefferson failed America in his crusade against entrenched, codified financial interests, America would have had hereditary family dynasties of the European sort with the slight variance that here, the codified family powers would be defined, not by Imperial titles, but by codified, hereditary control of finance.  Thank God that Jefferson was successful in his quest or we, in America, would never have truly known liberty at all.

As with Jefferson, your writer is widely travelled–in fact, I more so than he.  In Jefferson’s day, Europe was the only area of interest and exploration in the western mind.  I have travelled to virtually every corner of this world and I too, have seen the terrible poverty and despair occasioned by hereditary social rank and ceaseless wars of conquest and profit.  And, like Jefferson before me, I have hated what I have seen.

Comes now to us a new liberty.. Comes now to us a New Empire of the Good.  Support, sponsor and nurture my infant radio broadcast YOU–HAVE–POWER–because you do have power and I can show how to use it to build a Good Empire on the soon charred ruins of the dying one.  Let’s make that the American priority past November 2012–it will not be  that difficult with modern communications and social engagement  as we pull together to create our new Empire of Good on the collapse of the flailing edifices of the Old Empire.

We will insist upon, and get, DIRECT DEMOCRACY. For the first time in history, that is possible.  A new Good Empire with a new Good and God-fearing Emperor to lead us– A DIRECT DEMOCRACY voted on by, and with, the direct democratic participation of our splendid majority of moderate populists. I can create this direct democracy with you in full, free participation, by all good citizens.  It is a common saying in this city of my birth and my home for 60 years–“we can do anything we want–we have power.”

The corruption at this once proud capital of the Old Empire is so ubiquitous, so all-pervasive, the Empire has simply ceased to function. There are those who say that the solution is a third Party but, to get there, the current Empire would have to permit of a second Party as it has only one at present.  Doubters are cautioned to remember that even under communism, people could vote–for their own double-sided coin.   After November, when the final act of bacchanalian suicide kills the old Empire, we will take power and use it properly, modestly, moderately, as the populist majority we know we are.  Let’s band together and pass this clarion call to every city, state, village and town.  The old Empire of Evil has had its day–the new Empire of Good is on its way.

At the birth of the new Empire of Good, we the vast middle of 90%+ Americans, will say “now, we have power–we can do whatever we want–the difference is–we are going to be a force for goodness not evil.”   Let’s get this radio show up and running and broadcast to every part of America so that is November, when we see the ossified, current Empire collapse under the full weight of its corruptions, we will not be sad for America, we will be gleefully happy for America–because as on liberation Day after the War at Paris, smiles will break out, handshakes, kisses and we can lead the new Empire of the Good to a new era of glistening gold.

What makes our direct democracy absolutely attainable, in short order, is discussion, debating and real-time voting capacity at lightening speed.  I am told that prize fighters and child singers are elected winners by the viewing audiences, at lightening speed, via all manner of social communications devices.  It is a simple technical hurdle to cross adopting such technology to the New Empire to discuss, debate, cast votes, tabulate honest outcomes in real-time and monitor results.  Of the many faults of the Old Empire, one is that while its agents have all the modern devices, the mechanics of politics are largely unchanged since Jefferson’s day.  The agents have all modern gadgets, but they live in a, not updated, 18th century system.  The system itself is fine, or at least its foundations are.  As we have seen, politicians are morally net neutral.  They respond to stimuli from voters.  We’ll provide the stimuli. Our Empire will build on those good foundations of the Old dying Empire and make use of a permanent town forum for discussion, debate, voting, tabulation of results and monitoring of outcomes–all at lightening speed.

Washington will become the quiet little town of little or no consequence that it once was intended,  and ever ought, to be.  As there will be no one to bribe, there will be no lawyers or lobbyists.  Politicians will be paid by the people directly, through their votes and a modest salary.  There will be no way to game the system.  The Congress will meet, as it ought, a few months a year, if that, to pass laws and other initiatives at the direct direction of the people. The city will initially exist solely to facilitate the interplay of the people participating in direct democracy in America nationwide and doing their direct bidding. It may well be that, as the New Empire progresses, Washington will effectively cease to function as a place of any importance at all.  Emperor Pretenders, their attendants of various rankings, government men and so on will simply have to have their egos massaged somewhere else. Power as we now know it at Washington, will simply drain away.  It will no longer attract the egos of Emperor Pretenders and their myriad bootblacks, as it simply will not be that interesting a place to attract the eye of the ambitious.  To those of us who seek a good and effective  and beneficial New Empire, Washington will, initially be, simply a place at which the people’s directives are carried out–at lightening speed.

YOU–HAVE–POWER–let’s learn together quickly how to use that power to build the New Empire, beginning after the final act of Old Imperial suicide in this city in November is completed.  In our new Empire there will be no coins of tribute, two-sided coins of the confidence men and swindlers or dime’s worth of difference in our ideas and ideals.  Our New Empire will instead be fresh, pristine, pure and effective.  The nation calls you to her sad and weary breast.  Come all, to her, now.

  1. Very sound reasoning..if you make available some statistics to show how badly redistribution of wealth programs are needed…and how little war budgets help the vast majority, rather hurts them, economically etc etc …you could find many sponsors…

    • I certainly hope so, jacques–and, moreover, I think that people do not factor in how modern communications have broken down so many walls–for both good and bad result–i want the show to be a national conversation and debate and a vote about all the major issues–war at the top of the list–neither candidate will make any suggestion of the need to end war–thanks for the comment–john

  2. When I originally commented I seem to have clicked the -Notify me when new
comments are added- checkbox and now each time a comment is added I get four
emails with the exact same comment. Perhaps there is a way you
are able to remove me from that service? Thanks!
