Vladimir Putin: Russia reserves right to use ‘all means’ in Ukraine

Russian president says that there is no need yet to send troops into Ukraine but reserves the right to use “all means” to protect citizens.

Dear Mr. Robinson:

Thank you for your note just now about The Ukraine.

It is difficult for me, to be optimistic, about the situation in The Ukraine.

Seems an endless menu of bad choices to me over there, sorry to say to you, Sir.

Nasty bit of business that is over there.

Sharks of all sorts in the waters over there, sad to say.

As usual in these gambits, the regular citizens of Ukraine very likely have no say at all.

That area of the world, in one sense is like anywhere else, but, in another sense is very, very different from anywhere else and frankly impossible to clearly sort out.

I read that Mr.Putin is both a religious man and also principally admires, not the Communists, but rather the Imperial Czars–don’t just take my testament, he says he does.

The Romanov family, and Czar Nicholas II especially, are venerated as martyrs by the Russian Orthodox church.

My intimation on reading, both of current news services and of Russian history, is that Mr. Putin does want to put back together some semblance of the Czarist Imperial system.

Don’t take my testament for that, Sir, take Mr. Putin’s own testament.

Mr. Putin says he admires very much the Imperial Russian system, which certainly in some ways is understandable as, in 19th Century, The Imperial Crown was at it’s very highest heights.

Any derivative, distant or anecdotal memory or knowledge Mr Putin may have of the Crown, would be of a splendid golden and purple, vision of Empire.

Moreover, and I ask you, Sir~who today, would say that they wanted a return to an Imperial system who did not mean that?

And after all, Mr. Putin is likely all alone in the world of today’s leaders who can say precisely what he means to say without fear or favour.

I don’t personally think that there is anything particularly wrong with the notion of a reformation of Czarist Russia.

That’s certainly a better go than Communism~but then, anything is.

It is dicey always to be simplistic, but I’ve always had the notion that the Russian people are of the sort that frankly don’t expect too very much from life and they never disappointed in that assessment of things~~EVER.

So, in effect, all sides who are trying to snatch up power in The Ukraine, are conspirators.

There are no clean hands among the competing players there.

And, as is usually the case, the people in the country on whose land these gambits are being played out, suffer the most of all.

That said, Ukraine has always been in the Imperial Russian sphere of influence.

Many there, want to be part of Russia, from whence all regional power derives.

The EU wants to take them into the EU commune, likely at the tacit, or benign, behest of Foggy Bottom.

That notwithstanding–if or no–the people there want to be in the EU commune.

So, in effect, all sides that are trying to snatch up Ukraine, are conspirators.

There are no clean hands there–and, as is usually the case, the people in the country on whose land these gambits are being played out, suffer the most of all.

It is very hard–no Sir–impossible, to say with any precision just what the people there want–if you ask 12 people in Ukraine–what do you want–you are likely to get 25 answers.

It’s an impossible situation.

Bloody impossible, Sir.

To add to that, many in Kiev are open and blatantly, Nazi, in their politics.

Again, how many of the regular citizens of The Ukraine, are either Nazi, Communist, Czarist, Nationalist or simply are wishing all this madness would please go away?

Who can tell?

I surely cannot.

Who can?

As for conspiracies, of late, I have been taken with the notion that–NOBODY is in charge of ANYTHING anymore, despite what they might be thinking, or hoping.
