The most terrible of times call the greatest of men to them.~

Winston Churchill, seen at Harrow School in 1958, gave a stirring wartime address there in 1941: "Never give in. Never give in. Never, never, never, never -- in nothing, great or small, large or petty -- never give in, except to convictions of honor and good sense. Never yield to force. Never yield to the apparently overwhelming might of the enemy."

In times like ours today, I am reminded of Lord Winston Churchill who said to his alma mater, the Harrow School, in the bleakest time of the War:

Never yield to force; never yield to the apparently overwhelming might of the enemy.
We stood:
All alone, year ago, and to many countries that our account was closed, we were finished.
All this tradition of ours, our songs, our School history, this part of the history of this country, were gone and finished and liquidated.
Very different is the mood today. Britain, other nations thought, had drawn a sponge across her slate.
But instead our country stood in the gap. There was no flinching and no thought of giving in; and by what seemed almost a miracle to those outside these Islands, though we ourselves never doubted it,
We now find ourselves in a position where I say that we can be sure that we have only to persevere to conquer.”

Churchill speaking to the British people

During the war Churchill used the radio to speak to the British people. It was important to keep their morale up, especially when things weren’t going well.

"Jean-Marie Le Pen is a friend. He is dangerous for the political set because he's the only one who's sincere. He says out loud what many people think deep down, and what the politicians refrain from saying because they are either too demagogic or too chicken. Le Pen, with all his faults and qualities, is probably the only one who thinks about the interests of France before his own."~~
