We lost, of course, our precious, gorgeous, young Shelley, at sea, in the Gulf of La Spezia, in the Ligurian Sea off Italy, that sweet land he called “the paradise of exiles.”

Few are lost today at sea, a common death in Shelley’s day, so, driven by man’s cloying need to be lost at something, modern American man is “lost in my work.”
When a man says to you: “I’m too busy to talk now, I’m lost in my work,” what he means of course is: “I don’t want to talk to you right now.”
For, no man is ever “too busy,” at anything, unless of course, he wants to be so.
Americans today say to me; “I’ve no time to talk to you just now, John Begg, as I’ve lost myself in my work.”
I’m incredulous at hearing this, as, to lose oneself in one’s work is, by studied determination, to avoid Life Herself and to sequester oneself away from all contact with Her.
Yet, so it is that, in present-day America, man, lost in his work, soon finds himself dead and gone from this Orb into that Better Place called by us, The Light, having never known the touch, or tasted sweet, of Life Herself.
