Afghanistan: Fast Food for Empire.

Kaffeeklatsch early morning homework, sent today by our guest, young Chris Colford, quite early to work at the Bank just now our Chris, is to do with Afghanistan and alleged American Imperial miscalculations and failures in that sad land.

We’ve this to say about all that:

War is the perpetual condition of man, made more so when, man is organized, collectively, into Empire.

Since the end of the English Empire at the close of the last war and the concomitant transference of Imperial power to America, there has been an endless state of war, so glaringly so that, it cannot be accidental.

And, it is not accidental.

Empire feeds on war.

Without war, Empire perishes.

Some in this group are young and do not have a broad, or deep, grasp of the period from the end of the war on to today.

Mr. Reagan, in debate, was magnanimous enough to forgive Mr Mondale his extreme youth and we see fit here to stay that course.

Indiscretions of youth can always be forgiven, even fondly entertained, as they derive of that most desirable, most sought after, of human conditions:

Youth Herself.

The notion that war, anywhere, has as its purpose anything other than providing food and drink to sate Imperial appetite, derives of puerility.

Extreme youth suggests that this or that Imperial attitude or ideology, causes, or prolongs, war.

Such a notion defies and denies history.

In truth, war, as the food of Empire, is an equal opportunity employer.

The war of my lifetime was Vietnam.

Begun, tepidly, by Ike, avidly pursued by Jack, taken galactic by LBJ and Nixon and finally ended in exhausted impasse by Ford, the notion that Imperial War is driven by ideology or Party tie is shown, with the, quick, pass of teacher’s pen, here this morning to be, utter balderdash, gentlemen.

As today Afghanistan is on the front burner, that sad place repeats as well as a non-sectarian cross-Party enterprise now equal to Vietnam.

Afghanistan, as Vietnam before Her, represents what all the newsgirls at Washington are forever saying they want: Bi-partisan consensus!!

American Empire has been feeding in Afghanistan now a dozen years and no end is in sight and, far more poignantly, no end is desired, by either Party, by either ideology.

The Taliban there, who will eventually, by attrition, win that conflict are not engaged in a civil war as is said as Scripture Gospel in the press services, but, in truth are, Pakistani invaders.

That historical note is made here simply to set the record straight while knowing full well that nobody the world ’round really cares tuppence about Pakistan, Afghanistan or the Taliban.

Nobody that is except for Imperial America. A very hungry, very thirsty, Imperial America.

An Imperial America which must dine on live meat to live and drink warm blood to prosper.

Both that meat and that blood are found in Afghanistan.

It is then both pointless and naive to say that the war in Afghanistan is a failure of any sort of ideology or attitude.

Afghanistan is not a failure of any kind at all.

Afghanistan is a gleaming Imperial American success story.

Afghanistan is food and drink for American Empire.

There truly is no other way to explain our presence in that, blighted place, gentlemen.

Let us then eat, drink and be merry as dictates this Season!!
