In Re: Heroes Rising petition to Facebook respecting misuse of Facebook by certain illicit and deviant interests:

Making well-meaning suggestions to commercial interests is all well and good, right and wholesome, but making petitions, most particularly in the modern day, take on the intimation of demand.
A case in point here: Heroes Rising states that Facebook “must” do something and that followers of Heroes Rising ought band together to “force” Facebook to take certain actions. That language far exceeds friendly suggestion and qualifies, beyond any debate, as categorical demand.

While I’ve no reason to think that the petition presented for transmission to Facebook is not a good idea tendered in good faith, I’ve these questions of the petitioners called Heroes Rising:

*Just who are Heroes Rising and, more specifically, how do they come to think that they are in a position to tell Facebook what it “must” do and, after that, “force” Facebook to do it?

*How does Heroes Rising, of itself, know these things for certain about Facebook’s good character?:
~~
***”Keeping children safe from sexual abuse should be of primary concern for Facebook as a responsible, ethical, publicly traded, and law-abiding company.”***

*How does Heroes Rising know that it will cost this amount to have Facebook implement the strategy suggested and where does Heroes Rising get the moral, ethical or legal right to arbitrate how much Facebook money should be spent on this endeavour?

***Devote sufficient financial, technological, and personnel resources technology necessary to prevent these images, videos, and profiles from being posted, at no less than 0.05% of annual profits;”***

Lamentably, we today live on a world in which everybody on it considers it as his prerogative to tell everyone else on it what to do.
