Donald Trump is generally viewed as a sort of badly behaved carnival show barker.
~~
That reputation is actually undeserved and too bad because Trump in person is a very polite, well-mannered, nice guy who treats everybody, including low level staff very well.
Nana Maternal forged into me, as though it were Prussian steel, the adage that the key to accessing if a man is a gentleman or no is how he treats his servants.
~~
Donald Trump, behind the theatrical mask, treats all his people very well.
~~
I’ve watched him do that.
~~
Which makes him a gentleman.
~~
Ought it to make him a President?
~~
I think the answer to that is yes because Trump speaks to issues that are of very direct and visceral interest to a great number of Americans of all political persuasions.
~~
But, like so many other public figures: politicians, sportsmen, movie stars, pop stars and so on, Trump has become a self-parody and that parody he has become is a bombastic, not likable, gadfly when in fact, to know him even a little bit is to know a very likable guy with some very wholesome ideas for the country:
~~
To wit: most especially so, getting Americans good paying jobs, flooding America with good paying jobs….a subject of absolutely no interest at all to any other politician I have heard speak this season, or the last, or the last or the last before that.
~~
That’s truly a shame because I think Trump really would bring good jobs back home to America and for that reason alone, he should be elected.
~~
And that is part of his being a gentleman who demonstrably cares about helping Americans to have a better life than they now do, by arranging for them the possibility to have good jobs once again in America.
~~
Nana Maternal would approve and so do I.
~~
What stands in Trump’s way is what stands in the way of so many successful men:
~~
The man himself.
~~
Trump stands in Trump’s way.
~~
Trump is a self-parody and that parody is deemed as foolish and not likable by the public, despite that parody’s being:
~~
Not true.
~~
Simply:
~~
Not true.

“Jean-Marie Le Pen is a friend. He is dangerous for the political set because he’s the only one who’s sincere. He says out loud what many people think deep down, and what the politicians refrain from saying because they are either too demagogic or too chicken. Le Pen, with all his faults and qualities, is probably the only one who thinks about the interests of France before his own.”~~French actor~~Alain Delon

Bravo!!!!!!!
I’d write for Trump–he’s a reasonably good speaker with a good sense of stage presence—which leaves out ALL the others. He and I discussed my doing that some years ago–when he was just toying with the idea of running–he asked me what I liked most about him and I said “That you are a Catholic, of course.” He laughed and said: “You aren’t fearful of me are you?” I said: “I’m not fearful of any man except Jesus.” He really is a nice guy.
“… flooding America with good paying jobs…a subject of absolutely no interest at all to any other politician I have heard speak this season, or the last, or the last or the last before that.”
Call me crazy but i like the guy for the same reasons you do, and i haven’t even met him. I don’t think he’s perfect, but i think he actually knows what the heck is going on and how to fix it, personality aside.
Yup. That works for me as an American and an RC.
Nice & smart article, Mr John!
Plus–this time ’round, the Americans want to really break the bond with the political class–they are thoroughly sick of them–all of them–Trump knows business, he likely has more knowledge and contacts in the international business and political community than do all the candidates on both sides–combined— and he understands that the name of the game is to get Americans employed in good paying, stable jobs–PRONTO–by any means necessary—he will have a substantial bi-partisan appeal.
