For, even in Eden Garden, there lived and lurked, a serpent.

Even in Eden Garden, that Perfect Place, there lurked a serpent who was the downfall of man.

On Earth that are many charming and luxurious palaces, but make no mistake, brothers and sisters, in all those palaces and their adjoining bucolic gardens, lurks that serpent, who:

Daily demands of us, repayment of the debt owed him, with dividend upon dividend, compounded, even to our last end.

To our last, very, breath.

If you want to make a real New Year’s Resolution, in, The Now Fast Dawning Year of Our Lord, 2016, pay, as best you can, some of your, personal, part of man’s debt, owed to the snake, of Eden Garden.

Man is on the Earth but for a very brief hour and man ought be thankful for life’s brevity because man’s lifelong avocation is to pay a very small part of the collective interest on the massive human debt owed to:

I read your note today with keen interest. I see both the artist and the scientist on display.

You turn the key and open the door to a room in which only logic may follow you.

A room, in which to discuss a political issue, a subject area that is as far removed from logic as a subject can get.

Engage as you will in political discussions but remember that politics, always, is an exercise in raw emotion.

Logic has, and can have, no role to play in politics.

Don’t fall into the “let’s have a national conversation about guns” trap.

That’s Democrat talk.

Democrats always want to have little campfire girl chitter-chats about everything on the news.

I must say that I am taken by a particular comment you make that is truly the, gravamen, of the case respecting guns, as the law boys call it:

  My determination to escape school commenced immediately on hearing about this Atom Bomb business and took 16 dicey and arduous years to finally accomplish.~~

Guns: a Progressive point of view.

Few in this group are old enough to have any but fleeting, mythological memories, of how all this “gun control will halt violence” business came about.

It is rare that great age can be seen by the bearer as advantageous, but in this case, well then, there it is. I am old enough to have far more tactile and far, far more than fleeting mythological memories of the birth of the gun control industry.

Jack Kennedy, the most, ferociously, conservative President of any of our near lifetimes, was an active member of the NRA and proudly said so on many occasions and had a rifle presented to him in the Oval Office by that group not long at all before Jack was himself gunned down with a different sort of rifle.

Jack’s political agenda during his all too brief tenure was pithily and blessedly concise:

John F. Kennedy : Today, we need a nation of Minutemen citizens

Kill Commies abroad and cut taxes, most particularly so in the marginal brackets, here at home.

Jack Kennedy’s assassination caused great grief and, yes, public crying, I remember well. Nobody would cry over the killing of a President today.

Any of us old enough to remember that day in Dallas can visualize the minute by minute of that horrible weekend.

In those halcyon days, if one man shot another, you shot the guilty party, closed the case, went home and had a cocktail and full luncheon and felt both vindicated and satisfied.

That attitude regarding murder and what to do about it remains the overwhelmingly popular consensus in America today and always will do so.

Jack’s death is salient because in those days, what is called leftism, was yet a twinkle in the eye of the New York Times, a paper nobody anymore reads, except for jest.

I of course have not read the offered piece from that paper served up here because, the attitude of the New York Times is such that anybody here likely could have written the piece themselves, likely better written, although by most of us in mimicry.

There was a common expression in journalism circles many years ago:

“The New York Times: Bad ideas, worse writing.”

It was later in the 1960’s, after the killing of Luther King, the Republican black rights standard bearer and of Jack’s baby brother, Bobby, an even more vociferous conservative than was Jack, but yet more so, irremediably ambitious, who had moved hard left, sensing advantage in the shift in the times, that the infantile ones began the drum beat to the tune of:

“Guns kill people, get rid of guns.”

Perhaps if the left had something else, more modern, timely and worthwhile, to say about the subject than that, somebody might notice.

But the left doesn’t have anything else, or more modern, timely and worthwhile to say, save:

“Goodness me, guns kill people, get rid of guns.”

And nobody will listen to the listless message of the left any more now than normal people ever have done.

In fact, if there is a message being kicked around American households to do with guns today, it is likely this:

“Arm everybody in the house to the teeth because you are the only one who will have the chance to save yourself, your loved ones and others when the bullets fly…and fly they will.”

How short the list one could compile of those of whom it can be said that fame and money did not deprave?

At Washington, capital city of the terminally self-absorbed, mortal man holds to fleeting, feeble and fallible opinion, God immutable fact.

  It is my assessment that America is dying inside, being eaten away by the horror of the collapse of the middle orders, the attendant societal and religious values and customs of those orders and the ubiquity of war making for dubious purpose.

  The principal need in America today is~~financial and industrial De-Globalization~~to facilitate the promotion of the possibility for the average man to get and keep a good job with good benefits paid by the employer~~as was done not very long ago.~~
