That would be impolite of me and I won’t ever do that.

That all said, I’ll say this:

The Pope is deemed to be infallible in His pronouncements concerning:

“matters of faith and morals.”

To those who know nothing, or very little about the Church, which includes most Catholics and likewise many Catholic deacons, priests and prelates, this notion is always misused to argue in favor, or against, any commentary by the Pope on any subject.

Very simply put:

In circumstances in which the Pope does not speak in His capacity of infallibility concerning:

“matters of faith and morals,”

His comments are co-equal in their significance to yours or mine and you can make of them what you will.

The sticky bit always comes down to a debate as to if or no the Pope is speaking in His infallible capacity when He writes on matters that are administrative, wherein His pronouncements are not infallible, vice doctrinal, wherein His pronouncements are infallible.

Quite frankly, this subject is well beyond the mental wattage of most Catholic Bishops, let alone secular newspaper editors.
