I am sent today a missive from but one of the half-million political experts at this city, who know virtually nothing of Washington and absolutely nothing at all about the Americans, that Mr Trump’s Presidential campaign is a pipe dream.

All Presidential ambitions are pipe dreams.
Looked at impartially, at birth, nobody has a China man’s chance of being President.
In my lifetime, most Presidents have come from poor, nondescript, social backgrounds.
When they grow up, nobody yet has a China man’s chance of being President except those who run.
That’s why Presidential election is the lesser Kentucky Derby, meaning less important than the real Kentucky Derby run first Saturday every May.

In both horse racing and political racing, everybody is an expert until the gates open–after which frenetic moment, nobody knows the winner.

For both candidates and fans, you pay your money and buy your ticket and look heavenward to the Racing Gods for luck.

The Americans already liked Trump but Trump is now getting very dangerous to the ossified classes of alcoholic Washington because he is starting to like the idea of running for President and being President.
There are 3 requisites for an effective Presidential campaign:
**The candidate must have money.
**The candidate must be well-known to the Americans
**The candidate must like the limelight and enjoy the hurly-burly of campaign life.
While all the other candidates dash around trying to beg money and get well known, Trump already has those first two requisites, in spades.
Now, Trump has evinced having the third requisite:
He’s starting to like it.
Presidents are by nature celebrities and they not only are in the news all the time,

As years advance day on day, unmercifully, toward an end certain, but not specifically dated, I find that the only remaining irresistible temptation and passion I have left is:

I have to go, what is called back home, in the sweet South Land, “a far piece,” to Ford/Reagan combat in the trenches of 1976 to see any analogy to what is happening to Mr Trump.
People forget, or more accurately never knew at all, that Reagan’s most visceral enemies were not the press or the communists but rather his:

Fellow Republicans.

They detested him. They eviscerated him. It was only after he proved a winning horse that everybody later came to love him so.

But, then, who can resist a winning horse?
It took 37 years this spring for a horse, American Pharoah, to win the Triple Crown, an elusive prize like no other.

That was longer ago than was Reagan’s election.

Every once in a great while, a great horse comes along and we can but marvel at him. He has a sense of how to win.

A sense of where the winner’s circle is and how to get there.
~~
Every once in far, far greater while, comes a Presidential aspirant who has a sense of the American people and what they want.
He senses also, their Vesuvian anger with the status quo.
Far likely more so than the press services or the communists, the ones of this city who most want Trump’s head are the Republicans.

They’d rather lose the election than let an outsider in who actually stands for something beyond the dishwater served up in the Republican kaffeeklatsches right down the street from the communist kaffeeklatsches.

Trump and Reagan are very different men as is each man, one from the other one.

What they do have in common is that they heard and hear the cry of the people and they make that voice their own.

This is the key to all successful campaigns:

Having an intuitive sense of who the Americans are and what they want.

Trump is more dangerous than was Reagan to his enemies because the people are so very much more angry today as compared 1976 and because Reagan was simply too nice a guy….he couldn’t get elected today.

Today requires going directly for the throat.

Trump has a sense for the jugular vein that he brings from commerce. He knows that the best evidence that he is on the right course is to look at those who denigrate him.

The Americans detest those who denigrate Trump and the more his naysayers denigrate him, particularly on the public airwaves and in the common broadsheets, the more electable he becomes.

The biggest wheels of the political industry at this city are very right to fear Mr Trump.
If Trump wins any of the early primaries, he is a loose horse on the lead who will not be possible to run down by any in my Party or in any other.

The road to the winner’s circle in the 2016 Derby is for the jock to both sit chilly and likewise keep shouting encouragement to his horse.
In a horse race, the jockey shouts his encouragement to his horse throughout.

Pray brethren, what is it that man desires above all else of this earth?
Is it Fame?
No.
Is it Money?
No.
Is it beauty?
No.
Is it brains?
No.
Is it girls?
No.
Is it kindness?
No.
Charity?
No.
Hope?
Nay.
What man wants more than any other thing of this earth is:
YOUTH
For youth, man would willingly trade all money, gold, power and pearl of the world.
This reality is the reason for man’s incurable unhappiness.
Each day, man goes yet further away from that which he most desires:
YOUTH.
Man is misbegotten in his desire for:
YOUTH,
Because:
The purpose of human life is to be unhappy, to suffer and to die and to go back to:
THE GARDEN
From whence, man was, unceremoniously hurled, by His Father for man’s:
Disobedience.
Man will say “If I only had it all to do over, I would….”
Man is misbegotten. Why would man want his punishment on this earth repeated?
The idea is to get out of here, to get off this earth, as soon as possible and to go back to the Garden where man will enjoy:
ETERNAL YOUTH.
The aged man is not to be pitied. He is to be envied as he is one step closer to:
Eternal YOUTH.
Man understands that the object of his most ardent desire is, rightly so,
YOUTH.
Man misunderstands that man cannot find Youth here.
It is a disconcerting fact that:
In order to find True YOUTH, man must:
DIE.
I suspect that this realization is the reason that all religions, societies and legal systems prohibit:

Why is it illegal and prohibited by the Church to commit suicide?

Do both the Law and The Church realize that if it were not for such severe condemnation, there would be mass suicide if man were to rightly understand that true the purpose of life is to get the hell out of it:

As, if man rightly understood that the objective of his being here on earth is to get the Hell out of here as quickly as possible and go back to the Garden, how many of us would desire to spend yet one more day on his earth?
Man does not understand that he cannot find that which he most desires:

On this earth and seeks, in vain using substitutes for youth, to distract him from this harsh reality:
The very purpose of Life itself is:
To get the Hell out of here and go back to the Garden, a place where man will be:
How short the list one could compile of those of whom it can be said that fame and money did not deprave?
At Washington, capital city of the terminally self-absorbed, mortal man holds to fleeting, feeble and fallible opinion, God immutable fact.

Saint Jane Frances de Chantal Catholic parochial school, called, by anyone of any background, simply: “Chan~al,” a place where, of an autumn day in 1957, school, for me, began and ended in the first convening of the first grade in which a tiny nun, one Sister Dom Bosco, appeared before me, just behind the window appearing at far left of this photograph, and piped out this: “I may be small, but so then, is the Atom Bomb.”

My determination to escape school commenced immediately on hearing about this Atom Bomb business and took 16 dicey and arduous years to finally accomplish.~~
