God rejected, leaves man, neglected.

I think it res ipsa that the turning from God is what has made those of us in the developed West so terribly unhappy today.
~~

At Christmas 1939 in, The Royal Christmas broadcast, in the the darkest hour of the war, King George VI, Rex Imperator, quoted to His people on the wireless, and by historical extension here today, on down to each and all of us, a simple poem of profound meaning, in this, our own terrible dark hour during which we fight a very different war against the turning away from God.
~~

His Majesty:
~~

George VI had always said that the military is closer and easier than managing

“I feel that we may all find a message of encouragement in the lines which, in my closing words, I would like to say to you:

~~

I said to the man who stood at the Gate of the Year:

~~

“Give me a light that I may tread safely into the unknown.”

~~

And he replied, “Go out into the darkness, and put your hand into the hand of God.

~~

That shall be to you better than light, and safer than a known way.”

Minnie Haskins, Poetess

~~

May that Almighty Hand guide and uphold us all.

~~

The King’s broadcast was specifically Christian in content. He identified Christmas as “above all, the festival of peace”.

~~

The Christian West was then at terrible war and yet, The King said:

~~

“I believe from my heart that the cause which binds together my peoples and our gallant and faithful Allies is the cause of Christian civilisation.”

~~

So it is that the war and the sacrifice was joined and endured in the righteous cause of saving Christian civilization.

~~
The King and Mr Churchill repeatedly discussed the war in the context of a Christian struggle against evil and Godless forces.
~~
Frank Roosevelt likewise asked the Americans repeatedly during the war to pray for our fighting men and for the success of our just cause.
~~
Over time, initially imperceptibly, God began, in my direct lifetime, to vanish from normal and usual conversation in America and The West.
~~
We have reached at point at which, God is effectively banned from public life and we see a severe prohibition against making public reference to God in our social discourse.
~~
This rejection of God, on a conscious, not to say, often vicious, level leaves one to wonder the genesis of this hatred of our Loving Father and in fearful apprehension of the, most justifiable, neglect, of our nation and Western civilization by God’s Own Son, Whose Passion, Death and Resurrection we commemorate just next week, a sacrificial suffering that held out for man the potentiality of Eternal Salvation with Him in Heaven.
~~

As I watch with my own, now fast deepening sadness, the profound, palpable, unhappiness and disquietude of the peoples of the West in our time, it is manifest to me that sadness has, at its root cause, a turning away from that very Christian civilization that has made the West the cradle of all those things that make mankind good, noble and worth any sacrifice to preserve and secure.

~~

A society that turns away from God will not endure and does not deserve noble sacrifice to preserve it.

~~

I am asked often today why it is that the Muhammadans are such a vibrant and determined people today.

~~

I must say that it is precisely because the Muhammadans believe so passionately in their God, that their civilization now thrives, while our own, having turned its face away from our own true God, so listlessly, so dreadfully sadly, corrodes.

~~

We cannot dodge the nagging reality that:

~~

God rejected, leaves man, neglected.

Saint Jane Frances de Chantal Catholic parochial school, called, by anyone of any background, simply: “Chan~al,” a place where, of an autumn day in 1957, school,  for me,  began and ended in the first convening of the first grade in which a tiny nun, one Sister Dom Bosco, appeared before me, just behind the window appearing at far left of this photograph, and piped out this: “I may be small, but so then, is the Atom Bomb.”
    ~~
My determination to escape school commenced immediately on hearing about this Atom Bomb business and took 16 dicey and arduous years to finally accomplish.~~

"Jean-Marie Le Pen is a friend. He is dangerous for the political set because he's the only one who's sincere. He says out loud what many people think deep down, and what the politicians refrain from saying because they are either too demagogic or too chicken. Le Pen, with all his faults and qualities, is probably the only one who thinks about the interests of France before his own."~~

  1. I beg to differ on their vibrancy, at least in terms that are positive, but I agree with the rest of what you wrote. Sadly. Despite that, we carry on.
