Barack, le bien aimé. Après vous, le déluge.

senator, illinois, barack obama

How short the list one could compile of those of whom it can be said that fame and money did not deprave?
~~
Nana reminded me, often, to grow up to be a man who is not the sort of man who seeks out, at least not consciously, the name of an idle, cheap gossip, and I don’t generally believe that junior high school notion that:
~~
“History just keeps repeating Herself.”
~~
In point of fact, I think the principal lesson Lady History teaches us is:
~~
Things always CHANGE.
~~
 Always.
~~
Even still, there is this bit of historical repetition going on now among the, very unsettled and tendentious Americans, and I thought I’d make mention of it:
~~
I am this morning awake and watching at Washington as the left, at first slowly and soon after very rapidly, commits suicide.
~~
Poor lambs.
~~
They do not need me to slaughter them, they are killing themselves, with:
~~
Gluttonous excess.
~~
With hysterical overreach.
~~
And this at a city where is held to be sacred scripture Gospel that the left runs everything.
~~
At this dark hour in the morning, in America, I remember the words:
~~
“The darkest hour comes right before the dawn”
~~
From my library window, looking down on a dark and quiet street, I see the dark hour, but I sense the dawn.
~~
Somehow, the quickening pace of the suicide of the American Left, brought me to think this morning of our old friend:
~~
Louis Quinze,
“The Beloved ONE,”
bringing-french-home-9.jpg 534×922 píxeles
Louis, remembered principally today for simply splendid furniture, called appropriately, Louis Quinze furniture, was a French King with a reputation for:
~~
Absolutely hysterical ineptitude.
~~
It was, Louis’ favorite harlot, Jeanne Antoinette Poisson, Marquise de Pompadour, and not Louis Quinze Himself, as is generally believed, who is credited with the famous saying:
~~
Après nous, le déluge:
~~
Roughly put, in American English:
~~
 “After us, the flood.”
~~
Our Mr. Norman Davies says that after Louis XV took full control of France in 1723, succeeding His Grandpere, The Sun King, Louis Quatorze, the younger Louis’ reign “was one of debilitating stagnation,” characterized by lost wars, endless clashes between the Court and Parliament, and religious feuds.
~~
Our Mr. Jerome Blum goes a bit further to say that little Louis was:
~~
“A perpetual adolescent called to do a man’s job.”
~~
Well now.
~~
 I just said:
~~
 Well now.
~~
It seems to us here that Jeanne Antoinette Poisson, Marquise de Pompadour was a very prescient little harlot indeed as, quiet soon after she and Her boy King, little Louis, toddled off to heaven or where ever it may be that Kings and their favorite harlots go when they last close their eyes,
~~
The KNIFE just fell and fell hard on the necks of those who thought they ran things.
~~
As with our earlier mentioned lesson about Lady History teaching us that things change:
~~
Always,
~~
It turns out to be also true that nobody ever really runs anything, never ever, no matter what they might be thinking.
~~
Nobody runs things, at least not for very long and after they are done running things, not for very long, comes, well, well, after that, comes this:
The BLADE, the closest of close shaves, the real razor.
~~
Of course, never at a loss for the pithy rejoinder, Jeanne Antoinette Poisson, Marquise de Pompadour had this to say about the BLADE, the close shave, that she sensed would fast follow Herself and little Louis when they went to heaven after peaceful death in their feather beds.
~~
Jeanne Antoinette Poisson, Marquise de Pompadour, spent time ruminating on the day the axe would fall, thank God, later on.
~~
In a quip much less known to Lady History than is Her comment about the flood that is a comin’ Jeanne Antoinette Poisson, Marquise de Pompadour had this to say about that flood a comin’, later on, after Her:
~~
“Je me soucie pas ce qui se passe quand je suis mort et enterré,”
~~
Roughly translated into American English:
Madame de Pompadour 1758 - François Boucher - www.francoisboucher.org
“I couldn’t give a toss what happens after I am dead and gone.”

Saint Jane Frances de Chantal Catholic parochial school, called, by anyone of any background, simply: “Chan~al,” a place where, of an autumn day in 1957, school,  for me,  began and ended in the first convening of the first grade in which a tiny nun, one Sister Dom Bosco, appeared before me, just behind the window appearing at far left of this photograph, and piped out this: “I may be small, but so then, is the Atom Bomb.”

My determination to escape school commenced immediately on hearing about this Atom Bomb business and took 16 dicey and arduous years to finally accomplish.~~

“Jean-Marie Le Pen is a friend. He is dangerous for the political set because he’s the only one who’s sincere. He says out loud what many people think deep down, and what the politicians refrain from saying because they are either too demagogic or too chicken. Le Pen, with all his faults and qualities, is probably the only one who thinks about the interests of France before his own.”~~

  1. Hmmmm! Little boys love fishing; everyone knows that. It only makes sense that the perpetual boy king would consort with Ms. Fish.
