Benghazi?
You and I talked about this just after Benghazi.
What is the lesson of Benghazi?
The lesson is that a couple of illiterate, bare foot Mohammedan boys with no shirts, likely homeless and hungry, could, in the desert, press buttons on a box and unleash the terror against the Empire, watch the results locally and then watch the Empire at Washington fumble around trying to figure out what happened and how to respond.
The lesson, extended by logic, is that very shortly everybody, you, Carolina–Bebe Juliana, everybody, will have power to raise hell co-equal to the men buried deep in Langley, at Pentagon, Homeland, MI-5, MI-6 etc etc etc.
Universally co-equal power–this is Wikileaks, Snowden, Manning..and many, many unnamed.

We grew up in a time in which all the power to really raise hell eternal was held closely by a few grey suits at Washington and Moscow.

What is now called Cold War was actually, in retrospect, a very efficient, Warm Peace.
We are headed into a time in which co-equal power will be held by everybody.

Everybody.

This means for example that, when you and Carolina annoy Julianna at breakfast, she will have the capability to leave the table, go into her room, push some buttons on a box and…blow up the world.

And there will be no way to guard against this happening. Perhaps there already isn’t any way to guard against it.

With that capacity, when it comes soon universal, one morning, somebody’s child, somewhere, will push the buttons that blow up the world.
Genie’s out of the bottle–no way to put her back in–like as not–it’ll just be some kid having a laugh who ends the world by pushing some buttons on a computer box he holds in his hand–how do you defend against that?
